Its official – the new season is here and with constant inspiration pouring from our international offices, the london team have put together two head to toe looks to take you from the summer months into the dark, exotic season ahead with seamless ease. Consider your whole look; embrace the new season and be rid of sun damaged hair in favour of a light and manageable tousled bob in warm auburns and nutty tones. With kids back at school, make the school run your runway; ditch the jeans for this madewell easywear dress , casual boots and classic leather from Whistles. With less skin on show in the cooler months, it’s the time to rock some serious “lobe style”. The newly launched ‘tribal’ collection boasts an array of great everyday studs (the perfect update for your tired diamond and pearl studs) like the ‘aoki’ as well as standalone styles like the ‘naomi’ with set stones.
For a relaxed evening dinner, swap your sundress and sandals for a printed reiss shirt, skinny jeans and finish with rupert sanderson brogues. for a modern take on a classic look, inject some colour with a j.crew shoulder bag and hint of chrysoprase green with our ‘tribal chic’ ‘mai‘ drop earrings.
for both outfits a slick of bold lipstick never fails, try the new laura mercier creme smooth lip colour for long lasting wear or our personal fave, Mac Classic Lipstick in Sequin.
embrace the new season with modern takes on classic styles and of course some Kg jewels!
This week we thought we would give you a little insight into the things us KG london girls are loving at the moment. firstly Zadie Smith has just released her new book ‘N-W’ about a family residing in North London, it is set to be the must read of the year, we cannot wait to get our hands on it. As always Kensington haunt, Ottolenghi is an absolute favourite, treating ourselves to hot chocolates and sweet treats when the english weather decides to cast a grey and dreary spell over london. our new ‘tribal chic’ collection is at the top of our lust list, with the statement ‘Midori’ ring adding an impactful edge to our working wardrobes.
Next up is the hit television show of the moment, Downton Abbey, us KG london girls are somewhat obsessed, the elaborate costumes, dramatic storylines and the classic one-liners from british ledgend Maggie Smith, make for ideal sunday night viewing. Finally, world renowned department store, Selfridges, have transformed their rooftop into a world of crazy golf, complete with roof-top dining. the perfect evening activity for something a little different!
check the blog next week for our favourite things from Durban, Joburg and Cape Town!
As we welcome the new seasonal collection ‘tribal chic’ we feel it’s only right to give certain styles a little recognition, especially those that are being re-introduced after many years in the KG archives, who knows you may remember them from the first time round! the much loved ‘lila’ earrings, the perfect everyday style, have been polished up and given a slick new edge, giving a new lease of life to a very popular vintage style. The ‘hypnotise’ earring with its triple layered design has always been a showstopper, look out for the tribal chic twist, with beautiful bold stones in jewel tones coming in the dark, exotic months ahead.
the ‘sleeveless’ earring whether on a hook or stud are a favourite of the KG London team. Bold, sculptural and a little bit 80’s (kind of) they are bang on for the season ahead. Last but not least is the ‘pip’ ring; the new answer to the everyday cocktail ring, replacing our ‘sweetie’ and ‘button’ ring styles, this beauty is the perfect size for everyday wear as well as perfect for stacking up in the evening and will be available in a myriad of stone and metal combinations.
So as they say. KG is the new black!
as london fashion week draws to a close we take a look at some of our favourite collections from the past week. our number one has to be brand favourite Mary Katrantzou who has yet again bowled us over with another beautiful collection; clashing prints in sculptural concertina skirts and dresses create an amazing visual illusion, we simply cannot get enough. For attention to detail an masterful technique we have to highlight j.w anderson, peter pilotto, giles, and richard nicoll for seriously unique elements including intricate lazer cutting and optical prints.
In contrast to the world of prints, Paul Smith created an effortlessly cool collection, teaming his signature masculine style with colour blocking separates, a classic british collection. as the fashion eye moves forward to Milan and Paris fashion weeks we feel proud to say that once again we’ve shown the industry that LFW rules!
